Caldria que reflexionéssim sobre el rol dels
mitjans de comunicació quan veiem que el debat sobre un dels majors casos
d'espionatge practicat pel govern dels Estats Units s'ha substituït pel debat
sobre quin país donarà asil a Edward Snowden.
Aquest segon debat és parcial i mancat de sentit, ja que cal recordar que
desenes de criminals i polítics corruptes de tot el món viuen ostentosament als
Estats Units sense ser enviats als seus paisos d'origen perquè puguin ser
processats judicialment. El primer debat, en canvi, tracta una situació d'espionatge
sistemàtic a la població civil de tot el món per part d'un govern concret, la
qual representa una de les majors vulneracions del dret a la intimitat de la
història. És aquest el servei que els mitjans de comunicació han de donar a la
societat?

We should think about the role of media when we see that the debate about one of the biggest cases of spying practiced by the US government has been replaced for the debate on which country is going to give asylum to Edward Snowden. This second debate is partial and pointless, since we should remember that tens of criminals and corrupt politicians are ostentatiously living in the US without being sent to their own countries in order to be processed by law. The first debate, on the other hand, discusses a situation of systematic spying to civil population worldwide by a certain government, which represents one of the biggest attacks to the right to privacy in History. Is this the service our medias have to give to society?
